TEMPLATE Letter for Members to Use to Submit Responses to ERO Posting on Growth Plan February 13, 2019
The government has submitted a proposal to make Modifications to O. Reg. 311/06 (Transitional Matters - Growth Plans) made under the Places to Grow Act, 2005 to implement the Proposed Amendment to the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2017. OSSGA has made the point to the government that the current policy framework is not working. Approvals for new mineral aggregate operations in Southern Ontario are taking up to 10 years to complete the process. There are too many overlapping policies and inconsistent approaches between the Provincial Plans, Regional Official Plans, Local Official Plans and Conservation Authority policies regarding the management of this essential non-renewable resource.

Bentley Ehgoetz named OHMPA president for 2014

April 3, 2014

The Ontario Hot Mix Producers Association’s (OHMPA’s) ceremonial presidential gavel was recently passed to Bentley Ehgoetz, Director of Operations for Lavis Contracting Limited, by outgoing president Colin Burpee, General Manager of Construction for Aecon Construction & Materials Ltd. The transition took place during OHMPA’s 40th annual general meeting on March 27 at the Westin Trillium resort in Collingwood, Ontario.

I am very honoured to be stepping in as president of OHMPA as the association celebrates 40 years of being the leader and voice Ontario’s asphalt industry,” said Mr. Ehgoetz. “Over the past few years, OHMPA has stepped up its promotion of our industry and has hired staff that can spearhead this progress. This year, our aim is to grow our advocacy efforts that will go hand-in-hand with what we are doing to educate our members on how to continue producing a superior product.”

A native of Perth County, Mr. Ehgoetz graduated from the Civil Engineering Technology program at Fanshawe College. His career in the road construction industry began in 1986 when he was hired as a construction foreman with the County of Perth. However, according to Mr. Ehgoetz, his construction career really began at childhood. “I was involved with my father’s business, Anson Ehgoetz Excavating Limited, at the age of 16, when I was driving a dump truck even before I had my car license. I guess I can say that the business has always been in my blood.”

In the 1990s, Mr. Ehgoetz began attending OHMPA seminars and events but it wasn’t until several years later that he became active within the association. In 2009, shortly after he became director of operations for Lavis, OHMPA was looking for a board member to represent a family-owned business and his name was put forward by 1996 OHMPA president Gord Lavis.

“Getting involved with OHMPA and joining the board was the best thing I could have done,” said Mr. Ehgoetz. “The learning experience has been invaluable.”
