OMB Decision on Haul Routes

On July 24th the OMB released a decision on the Giofam City application in Kawartha Lakes. The issue being decided by the board was a request by the Simcoe County to impose a condition of approval on the application requiring Giofam to pay a portion of maintenance costs for the haul route though Simcoe County .
The board decided to impose these costs on Giofam on behalf of Simcoe County. As a result this sets a precedent for haul route agreements in neighboring municipalities.
